Who Am I Presentation
The social classes I can relate to are African Americans, European Americans (Whites), and Nigerian Americans. I can relate to African Americans since I am an African American. I can relate to Whites and Nigerian Americans since I have worked intimately with both these racial and ethnic gatherings. ââ¬Å"The term African American alludes to people who are occupants of the U. S. A. , typically raised here, who are of African family, while the term Black is progressively broad and can allude to anybody of African parentage, including late immigrantâ⬠(Education. byu. edu, 2012). African Americans make up about 14% of the populace in the United States (Education. byu. edu, 2012). The progenitors of African Americans were brought to the Americas without wanting to and subjugated by Whites. They were coercively taken to Spanish and English settlements in America where they were oppressed and treated as inferiors. For over two centuries, African Americans experienced servitude and isolation however kept on having trust (Education. byu. edu, 2012). My precursors utilized Religion, for the most part Christianity, and Gospel music to assist them with adapting and disregard their languishing over a specific timeframe. Trusting in God and singing old Negro otherworldly melodies, gave them trust that one day they would be free and ready to live among and be equivalent to different races. Blacks were prohibited to go to indistinguishable schools from whites, utilize indistinguishable bathrooms from whites, ride the front of the transport, cast a ballot or go anyplace white individuals were. The battle for opportunity was a long and troublesome one. When the NAACP was framed in 1909, they intended to annul isolation and victimization blacks (ââ¬Å"Encyclopedia Britannica's Guide to Black Historyâ⬠, 2013). African Americans have come far from bondage days. Nobody would ave ever accepted that the United States of America would one day see a Black President chose for not one, however two terms. In spite of the fact that we have a progressed significantly, we despite everything have far to go. Preference separation despite everything exists on the planet today. Numerous individuals oppress Blacks in light of the generalizations that were made about them and the manner in which they are depicted on TV in the news. Blacks were generally known for being strict, cooking soul food, being athletic and singing. Today, Blacks are known for being hoodlums and brutal, being drug addicts and heavy drinkers, being poor, uneducated, jobless and unfortunate. Albeit these things exist among all races, it appears that they are progressively pervasive among Blacks. At the point when Blacks carry out violations, they are spread all around the news. In any case, when Whites or another race carry out a wrongdoing, it is stayed silent except if it is a prominent case. For instance, when the youthful multi year old Jewish kid, Leiby Kletzky, from Brooklyn was found in the cooler of another Jewish man from their own locale, the story was left hidden. Before the police found the boyââ¬â¢s body it was a prominent case, at that point out of nowhere when it was discovered to be one of their own sort, the story was no longer in the news. I have worked with Nigerian Americans for more than eleven years. I should state that my encounters with Nigerian Americans have not generally been acceptable. From what I have realized, they appear to be inconsiderate, they think they are sub-par compared to Blacks and Hispanics however they dread the Whites. The greater part of them are Catholic, they eat nourishments that appear to have a foul scent, and they communicate in their own language. I saw this as intriguing on the grounds that I turned out to be dear companions with two Liberian Americans and they appear to be very surprising from Nigerian Americans both in their appearances and their practices. Liberians appear to be well mannered, clean, and wonderful individuals. They just communicate in English, despite the fact that they have a substantial highlight when talking among one another in light of the fact that they talk exceptionally quick. Liberian ladies appear to be littler in height and dress exceptionally decent in American attire. Nigerian ladies are huge with enormous hands and feet, they seem darker, they wear their African garments regularly and they couldn't care less a lot about appearance. Most Africans don't believe themselves to be African Americans. They don't believe themselves or their precursors to be a piece of the subjugation time (ââ¬Å"Encyclopedia Britannica's Guide to Black Historyâ⬠, 2013). I generally accepted that everybody from Africa was the equivalent until I started working with them. A large portion of them appear to cherish fiery food, they eat entire fish with the head still on it, they love rice and they eat some fascinating food. Consistently, my activity has a social decent variety occasion where individuals everything being equal and races carry their nourishment for others to encounter. I love learning and attempting new things, so I see this occasion as extremely useful and accommodating in showing others various societies and convictions. It likewise permits everybody to become more acquainted with others for themselves which makes a more advantageous workplace. To the extent my predecessors being victimized, my incredible (xââ¬â¢s 4) grandma was assaulted by a slave driver and my fatherââ¬â¢s mother is blended in with Black And White races. My extraordinary (xââ¬â¢s 4) grandma was beaten and over and again assaulted. This is all the data my grandma gave me. My grandma and every one of her sisters and siblings are extremely, light and lighter looking with wonderful hair. I generally asked why and when I asked her she revealed to me the anecdote about her grandma and her grandmotherââ¬â¢s mother being assaulted during subjection by their White slave drivers.
